I think it is documented in Ithel Colqhuouns' "Sword of Wisdom", and in Christopher MacIntoshes' and Ellic Howe's GD books, the name of which escapes me. (Something like Twilight of the Magicians, and The Last Magicians, or some such.) I'll get specific at home if you like. The others who answerd your post should have done so in a more specific manner, and I should do the same, and so I will if you want. I don't think being in the Golden Dawn really conflicted with his Christainity, though, certainly Waite's branch of GD became completely Christian, or so he would have it. `~~~ PGPBLUE 2.0 ... I'm not a C.O.T. or T.O.T. member but I'm curious FH> what you are referring to. It's hard to say- most of my impressions are pretty subjective, and I'm hesitant to really say much, partly out of respect for the orders in question and partly because it strikes pretty personal ground. Well, let's just say that it is one thing to go on a date with someone in a situation where the idea is that the date is a precursor to jumping in bed; another thing to simply go on the date for the immediate value of the enjoyment it may provide- and then if later you decide to jump in the hay, fine. But going with the idea in the first place that a mutual decision will happen whether or not to have sex throws a considerable amount of... what, pressure? on the situation. I'm not saying that's bad, or that it would be bad to jump in bed, especially if that is what you're looking for. Some people might like it that way, while others prefer to be a bit more circumspect. This is what I mean about a matter of individual preference, and not a value judgement on either approach. But you can definitely feel the difference. 93/93 /\ . . \./ \,/ -AR AAKHU-T X >< X /'\ /`\ bb125@scn.org \/ 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Fir Area: Thelema To: The Pict 15 Aug 94 06:57:00 Subject: Pict in Oz UpdReq Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Here 'tis... short, simple and hopefully effective if done well. Obviously, the important part is the "laying on of hands" -- IOW, just as in any ritual, no matter how simple or complex, the REAL magick is in the "juice" and not how fancy it gets. This ritual was "given" to me almost exactly as you see it here, by my Adonai. I find it particularly appropriate that the real magick, just as in the Mass (which, if you think about it, is the ritual par excel- lence to mark this particular Feast), is catalysed by the Mage/Priest, but actually comes from/through the Bride/Seer/Priestess, in whom "...is all power given." Love is the law, love under will. - Christeos Pir Fr. Vitriol Io, O.T.O. * * * * * * * * * A RITUAL OF THE PROPHET AND BRIDE Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. The Mage and Bride are "veiled" in a dark, dull robe or covering. Each celebrant enters similarly "veiled." The Mage opens with the LBRP. At reprise of Cabalistic Cross, Bride sheds her veil, revealing a rich garment and jewelry. Alternatively, she may be bare-breasted, or even nude, and richly bejewelled. As Mage repeats "Ateh," she steps forward and interrupts him, placing two fin- gers of her right hand on his lips. She annoints his eyes, ears and mouth with Abramelin or other suitable substance, and energizes him with 93 Current, saying: Lift up thyself! for there is none like unto thee among men or among Gods! He sheds his veil, becoming the prophet. They embrace, crying out: Abrahadabra! Together, they then approach another celebrant. "Lift up," etc. . . Annointing. . . Channelling. . . Unveiling. . . Embrace. . . "Abrahadabra!" Then all three approach another person, etc., to end. End with The Child. After "Abrahadabra!" the child is crowned. All call out three times: Hail to the Crowned and Conquering Child! The Prophet says: Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. and all repeat: Love is the law, love under will. End with Star Ruby -- the Prophet asks that anyone who wishes join in, at their own pace and rhythm, for this is done in celebration, not in banishing. Love is the law, love under will -oOo- ...
