If we have to have leaders, I elect me. I do vote, but only for third party candidates like Libertarians (although they have not a hope in hell and I disagree with their pro- business stance). I also vote for initiatives, the only one of which ever passed was an auto insurance reform bill that has been ignored by the industry. Democracy cannot work without an informed populace, and a truly informed citizen base requires no government whatsoever beyond personal discipline. If I may butt in here, I think that AC was unconcerned about the effects on the Eagle because his method of choosing the was often caprice, which to him, I think, implied that the one so chosen could handle it or not, but whatever happened was what that which was ``supposed'' to. I personally find that this is more often a sticky point for me than it seemed to have been for AC. (Of course we are looking at a particular instruction to a particular person--although it later came to be considered universally useful, as in the case of Liber Aleph--so some things may be specific to Parson's case: eg. the bit about Smith.) ...
