Ok.  That meets the dictionary definition of "encryption" but not the 
definition in use in the computer industry.
It's only encryption in the same sense that ASCII is encryption.  It would be 
more appropriate, in this venue, to say that it was encoded, although most 
dictionaries will tell you the two words are interchangeable.
