It will still work. I 2.3a keys are identical to 2.6MIT/2.6UIX keys, are they not? All that need be done is extract a copy of your key; even if you created it with 2.3a (or 2.3, for that matter, which is what I created mine with) 2.6 will output it with "2.6" in the version line. In other words, the time you spent hitting buttons to make that new key was wasted time. 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Shawn McMahon Area: Public Key Encryption To: Jason Levine 20 Jul 94 15:23:58 Subject: On this subject... Despite the stern warnings of the tribal elders, Jason Levine said this to Shawn Mcmahon: JL> And you don't see a mention of BARE WIRES, either. Anyone who JL> doesn't know that you use insulated wires to make a magnet JL> deserves to get fried... However, some poor cop just trying to do his job (whether it's a law with which we agree or not) does *NOT* deserve to get fried just because somebody *ELSE* doesn't know to use insulated wires. Jason, anybody who knows enough to use insulated wires probably knows enough to make a magnet without directions. The only ones who need the directions probably need to know about insulation as well. In other words, the only people likely to implement that scheme because of your message probably don't know to insulate the damn thing! Add that to the fact that the resulting magnet probably won't erase anything in your computer, and certainly won't erase it reliably enough to prevent recovery, and what you have is a recipe for disaster. Maybe just one disaster, one time; but explain those odds to the dead cop's family. Even if it DOESN'T result in a disaster, but instead results in some idiot kid who thinks he's safe getting busted for piracy (of which I'm 100% in favor) it'll probably result in some poor cop getting his credit cards screwed up. What it will *NOT* do is enhance anybody's privacy in any way. Might sell some wire, though; keep a nice American wiremaker at work. :-) 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: John Schofield Area: Public Key Encryption To: Ron Williams 18 Jul 94 09:24:16 Subject: Dash test -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- --====-- RW> Here is a test for dashed lines...
