    C.G. Jung said the religion is a defense against a religious experience.
I believe he's right.  I have had a series of deeply religious experiences,
and have been looking at various theologies to explain them.  My conclusion
is that the raputure is fundamental to the human psych, and theologies are
an attempt to put the experience into a rational framework.  I really see
no need for theology, except as a control mechanism for those with very
little understanding of what they have touched.
