Really well when you are learning about magick on your own with only a book to guide you you sometimes end up with some different ways of doing things. It seamed logical that if you were putting energy back into the earth you would want to lie down on it although I guess you could channle the energy down your spine or through your feet if you were sitting or standing. The energy comes from you, not the Athame, it will always hold some residual or signature energy however. It is supposed to be magnetized with a load stone, which makes it easier to project through. Your energy for doing a circle should be drawn down through your third eye or crown chakra, fill you and run down your arms and be projected through the athame. This energy is real and can be seen and felt, you do not have to use an athame, wand, sword to draw your circle. A circle or invockations can be preformed with your fingers, in effect you should be able to cast a circle and do a ritual without anything but, you. Don't become over dependant on tools, what happens if you lose them? I've picked up sticks to use as a wand for casting a spur of the moment circle, as long as you sprinkle them with some salt water to purify them before use. I own two swords, one good atame, two wands the latter made by myself and still can and do cast circles without them. Blessed Be! All I see in due respect to an alternative to Christianity is nothing but negativity. I've tried my best to inform the "misinformed" when it comes to what I follow, which is Witchcraft, but still they take it as "worship of a fictional character (Lucifer)" and shun me for my beliefs. Noone can invade my freedom of privacy or speech, but they think they can invade my true free will, and unfortunately I was born with the right to choose.
