THE MASS OF THE FLESH

(Required implements)

Altar, copious quantities of musk incense with a tiny bit of
sulphur added, honey. Any other implements or toys which the
participants or the congregation wish to include for the
purpose of heightening pleasure.  A dagger for the priest.

The ceremony begins with the Priest wearing a black robe
underneath  which he is naked.  A Living Altar is used.  The
Congregation is similarly robed and naked underneath.  The
light should be dim and flickering, preferably red.  The
congregation rings the Priest and the naked altar.  A mask of
a goat's head should be set above the Altar.

The incense is set afire and the room is allowed to fill with
the scent of musk and sulphur.  The priest raises the dagger
over his head and begins.

PRIEST:

     In Nomine Carnis Dei!

CONGREGATION:

     In Nomine Carnis Dei!

PRIEST: (lowering dagger)

     We are gathered here tonight to pay homage to the
mysteries of flesh.  We are here to celebrate the ecstacy of
the incarnated spirit, and to claim it as our own.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     For the rutting of the goat is the glory of flesh!

CONGREGATION:

     For the rutting of the goat is the glory of flesh!

PRIEST:

     And the joy of the child is the glory of flesh!

CONGREGATION:

     And the joy of the child is the glory of flesh!

PRIEST:

     And the ecstacy of the lovers is the glory of flesh!

CONGREGATION:

     And the ecstacy of the lovers is the glory of flesh!

PRIEST:

     Look upon yourself now, creature of flesh.
     Within your body is the key to ecstacy.
     Within your soul is the joy of the beast.
     All praise unto the flesh.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     For this is my commandment unto you--be strong! Then
canst thou bear more joy!

CONGREGATION:

     Be strong! Then canst thou bear more joy!

PRIEST:

     Be not animal! Refine thy rapture!

CONGREGATION:

     Be not animal! Refine thy rapture!

PRIEST:

     But exceed! Exceed!


CONGREGATION:

     Exceed! Exceed!
PRIEST:

     There is no purpose greater than pleasure.  Those who
tell you otherwise are liars.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     There is no law greater than pleasure.  Those who tell
you otherwise are liars.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     There is no sin in pleasure.  Those who tell you
otherwise are liars.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!


PRIEST: (raising dagger)

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     (placing honey on altar's lips, then licking it off--
allowing the lick to become a kiss.  Honey is passed around
the congregation to taste).

     Taste of sweetness and claim sweetness as your own.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     (Removing robe; placing hands upon altar)

     (Congregation removes clothing and moves closer
together, feeling each other's bodies)

     Feel beauty and claim beauty as your own.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     (parts altar's thighs and places honey between them,
then licks it away)

     (Congregation does as it will with each other's bodies
using the honey)

     Taste of sweetness and claim sweetness as your own.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     (placing altar's hand on member--placing own hand on
altar's genitals...they masturbate each other)

     (Congregation does same)

     Feel beauty and claim beauty as your own.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     Through me, with me, in me
     In the unity of the flesh and spirit
     All glory and pleasure is mine
     forever and ever.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

     (The Priest parts the veil with his lance--the
congregation does the same amongst themselves.  All seek
their pleasure until all are satiated).

     (When all are satiated the priest again dons his robe
and stands tall amongst the entangled bodies).

PRIEST:

     You have known now of joy and joy has come amongst you.
Realize now that joy is a part of you.  Thanks be to flesh.

CONGREGATION:

     Thanks be to flesh!

PRIEST:

     The Mass is ended, let us go in peace.

     This ritual is intended to facilitate the realization of
ecstacy and to break down deep Christian conditioning about
the "evil" nature of pleasure.  It is not an official Temple
of Set ritual, nor does it have the Setian Impritaur.  I
welcome any feedback from anybody who attempts it.

     The sexual gender and orientation of participants is
unimportant--hopefully by the end the people involved will
have risen beyond the social codes which categorize people by
orientation and learned that Pleasure is all.
