It is a paradox of perception. We perceive something as chance at a certain level, at another level we no longer see it as chance. The Wheel of Fortune is below Chesed and significantly below Tiphareth also. Therefore chance shows an uninitiated attitude towards things that happen. The path between Chesed and Chokmah -- the High Priest --represents "he who knows" -- he has already been initiated and understands things a lot better -- he has risen above the abyss. Nothing is chance or random. Seeming things may occur by chance, you have to prepare your perspective. You discover synchronicity In a certain family -- a blackbird would appear at the window, foretelling a member of the family would die. C.G.Jung developed theory of synchronicity. Synchronicity became mainstay of Jung's philosophy. The path of the Hermit card (A monk with stick and lamp) illustrates several ideas that lead the mind toward the source. It is represented by the Hebrew letter "Yod". All other Hebrew letters are combinations of Yod. Yod represents our concept of carbon. The path of Yod links Jupiter and the Sun. It says Jupiter gave carbon to the Sun. It shows that carbon and the sun unite as a form of energy. The Hermit card as a path represents this form of energy. The letter "Yod" combines to form letters, which in turn form words, etc. One can create words from something small which it analagous to the prima materia. The letter Yod is first letter of Tetragrammaton. Yod represents the Father, the creator of all worlds. Yod represents spermatozoa. The formation of the letter Yod looks like sperm. It also represents wisdom which is the highest form of Mercury. The symbol of Mercury shows the Sun extending into two worlds. The Sun extends into sky above and earth below. It is energy going in two directions. The Hermit also represents the Psychopompos, the leader of souls. This is a mythological name meaning leader of souls through areas of Death and the Abyss. He is a guide. He carries a lamp and is looking upwards at the energy burning in the lamp. The Hermit cameo shown in lamp is the symbol of potential energy or fertility. The Hermit represents Wisdom himself. As was Diogenes depicted as carrying lamp and seeking wisdom, your task is to find wisdom. Your task is to see the light itself and within its radiance, to recognize yourself. Kinetic energy is represented by path from Tiphareth to Geburah. It is illustrated by the Justice card. Justice represents someone in search of a hidden justice. Someone who is actively in search of seeing past the sun. Beauty and Beast, ie: The Lady and the Lion. The Strength card path joins the two forms of energy...Jupiter to Mars and Chesed to Geburah. It represents covalency; the linking of two types of energy which creates a bond between them. The card illustrates a woman taming a lion. It represents a wedding of two forces. Aleister Crowley considered it the high point before the Abyss, "the Great Work". There has always been a tradition that gods or famous men were born not from a man and a woman, but from a woman and a beast. Zeus or Jupiter came down to earth in the form of a beast and mated with a woman to form strange children. The word "generosity" deals with gentle birth or noble birth and refers to Jupiter, who bore a lot of children in different kinds of mutations. Our evolution is based upon mutations. If we did not mutate, we may not have been here. We conceive of mutations as being anything different from us. Yet, in our race a type of mutation would be a person who would survive better than us in the year 2000. Mutations are necessary to evolution. A paradox? ... Mutations that make it ... become the norm, and all other things are called: "mutations" The High Priest represents initiation and also inspiration toward receiving the breath correctly from God. The High Priest Path joins Jupiter to Chokmah (Wisdom). Below that path, we do not understand events and feel it is all dumb luck. Once a magickian realizes that path and moves up toward it, then he/she knowing nothing happens by chance. The awareness of Synchronicity is enhanced. Hence, the Magickian's "motto", (so to speak). Path -- to Know (Hierophant) to Dare (Wheel) to Will (Strength) to Keep Silent (Hermit) Four rules of a magickian represented in the paths extending out from Jupiter. Jupiter is considered the Lord of Ritual, the Lord of High Priests in Rome. Hermes is traditionally the Lord of Magicians in the sense of magical wisdom. But, in ancient Rome, all ritual was attributed to Jupiter's influence. To Know, To Dare, To Will and To Keep Silent. (Continued next issue) REPRINTED BY POPULAR REQUEST To Go is Godly Ire - Is the Latin word meaning: To go. Before we can Know, dare, will, or keep silent, one must have something to work on. The word GOD is derived from the Egyptian verb: To Go. God is anyone who goes. The symbol of this is the Egyptian Ankh. The Ankh was a symbol of a sandal strap. To Egyptians this was a sandal strap. The hole is where the big toe went. To Go, for the Egyptians was a godly act. The ancient Egyptian statues of Gods showed the God with one foot ahead and one foot behind...they are going. They have a divine right to go where they will. An Ankh is on the Tree of Life. The top six form the circle and the bottom four form the cross. The thing about "To Go" is interesting. It doesn't imply you have to get anywhere. There is no goal. In magick one should not lust after result. Do not think of the goal so much that you lose the enjoyment in getting there. The fact is: a. You should go... and b. the enjoyment is in the going ... not in the goal itself. The goal is Godly. Once you arrive at a goal...life stops unless you have a further goal mapped out. If you plan a continuum of goals you will always be walking. That's the Idea.
