Area: Thelema To: To Meta Therion 14 Nov 94 19:06:24 Subject: TGD UpdReq Greetings in Thelema: Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. TMT> With the A.'.A.'. being a macrocosmic organization TMT> aligning intself with the cosmic energies and the TMT> OTO being a "religious" order seeking to spread TMT> the law of Thelema, where does the TGD fit in? This isn't meant to be a cop out, but I see it as a mixture of both. We are a religious order, but unlike the OTO (OTO members please help if I'm wrong!) the emphasis is placed more on the individual than the group. The TGD is a rosicrucian body, the OTO is a Masonic body. TMT> What do the lessons consist of that they send TMT> their members? Do they resemble the old G.'.D.'. TMT> lessons or are they more aligned with magickal TMT> experiences? The lessons are amazing in my opinion. They do not resemble the old GD "knowledge lectures." They would be pointless. That material may be found in a number of published books. In addition to the TGD lessons, an expanded version of the Old Order material (approved by Israel Regardie) is available. This material has greatly helped my understanding of the TGD and magick in general. The TGD lessons are a combination of instructions in ceremonial magick, holy books, GD history, Thelemic history and many other things. TMT> Is the structure set for each member or can the lessons/times btwn TMT> initiation be personalized? Do you have to go to TMT> LA to be in good standing with the order? The lessons are at your own pace. Times between initiation are entirely up to the individual. If you prefer to self-initiate yourself for the neophyte and zelator grades this may be done. If you want to travel to LA for either grade that is also fine. In person initiations in LA are ENTIRELY free of charge. Initiations are also available in Salem, Mass at the Strength of Hadit Temple. You do not have to go to LA to be in good standing, however the Adeptus Minor initiation is only in person in LA and only by invitation from the Order chiefs. I have to continue this, space is short! 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Frater H.A.C.A. Area: Thelema To: To Meta Therion 14 Nov 94 19:22:30 Subject: TGD cont. UpdReq I made a small error in the previous post. Initiation times are at your own pace but there are prescribed "waiting periods" between grades. Neophyte to Zelator is 9 months. Zelator to Adeptus Minor is one year with the Dominus Liminus work taking place three months prior to the Adeptus Minor initiation. Active OTO members may join at their current grade without going through previous initiations. TMT> I think that is enough mind probing for now. I TMT> hope to hear from you soon because I am trying to TMT> decide whether the TGD would be better for my TMT> goals than the OTO. Thanks Many people actually do both. I recently took my OTO Minerval. The TGD fully supports the OTO. The TGD was, in fact, formed by two OTO members, one of which I believe is still active. Although there is no connection in anyway between the OTO and the TGD, there are many people who are active in both Orders. The question ask yourself is: do I prefer to a Rosicrucian Body or a Masonic Body? I hope this helps. If you can, please put future TGD questions on the TGD echo. My apologies to the Thelema echo moderator (is that you tony?) for this long somewhat off-topic post. Love is the law, love under will.
