 It seems to me that the OTO, or any group, is entitled to privacy.  This
is often overlooked in debates on "occult secrecy." The bond of initiation is 
familial, and families are not required to share inside information, or even 
inside jokes, outside the home.

It's more or less off-topic, but I think perhaps you are missing the 
point about the Khephra = midnight correspondence. The beetles are 
usually seen pushing their dung-ball into a hole in the ground, thus 
producing an obvious association with the Sun going into the paths of 
the underworld during the night. (So what if the Egyptians didn't think 
of it that way? The hell with them! <G>)
If you prefer a "higher" authority for the attribute, consider Liber AL 
3.38 (which I believe is from the Stele of Revealing, and therefor of 
Egyptian origin):
The light is mine; its rays consume
  Me: I have made a secret door
Into the House of Ra and Tum,
  Of Khephra and of Ahatoor.
This is clearly a reference to the four quarters of the day. Ra and Tum 
are the two horizons (i.e., dawn and sunset); Hathor has always been the 
day-sky, the "House of Horus". That leaves Khephra as the other end of 
the noon-midnight axis. 
... The Aleph-sub-zero is the alephth aleph.
