From: The Cegorach Area: Thelema To: KAYLA BLOCK 13 Dec 93 09:42:36 Subject: Cegorach, part zillion UpdReq Some further notes, re: The Cegorach After my latest invocation of the Cegorach, just before which I had just finished (finally!) memorizing all the correspondences attached to the Hebrew alphabet (the Thoth version), I kept getting/seeing/thinking of Lameds. At first I thought it was due to my name, Larry. I had, for example, been fooling about with different gematric derivations of alternate spellings of my name (always a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, eh?). Then, when I pulled out the ol' Thoth deck, to look up Adjustment, I realized that the figure is *dancing*; interesting, in light of the fact that the Cegorach is the patron deity of the Eldar Harlequins, who are a caste of mystics/acrobatic dancers. The Cegorach, then, in addition to being the Laughing God, is also the Dancing God. The colors I associated w/Craftworld Ithilien (from which this BBS takes its name) are primarily black/silver, with secondary colors of turquoise and an electric pinkish-purple. These were determined before I became interested in QBLH...and now I'm seeing all kinds of correspondences associated w/these particular colors. For example, black/silver => black/grey (in heraldry) => Binah/Chokmah. (BTW, => is my symbol for "yields/is associated with/corresponds to/makes me think of/leads to") Turquoise => the coloration of Adjustment And looking through my Thoth deck, I see that The Universe is a Dancing Goddess too. (The Eldar, by the way, are somewhat androgynous as a race...and Elven deities are frequently androgynous...which makes me think of Hermaphrodite, and the "beyond gender" status that I associate with spiritual entities, particularly the HGA.) IOW, associations are fun, and I'm now exploring the associations with Lamed (which means an Ox-Goad...interesting, isn't it, the associations that arise from AL/LA, Ox/Ox-goad?), Adjustment, Libra, turquoise, 8, Tiphareth and Geburah, and about a zillion other things, to see how this relates to my conception of The Cegorach as my HGA. Another interesting (well, to me anyway! (g)) note: the fantasy-genre equivalent of The Cegorach, is the God of the Wardancers, known as The Lord of the Dance, He Whose Dance Structures the Universe, and The First Being. His name is Adamnan-na-Brionha, which was a name I've seen associated with the Celtic Great Fool. Especially interesting is his depiction: one half of his body is a great, muscular warrior, with a face (or half thereof) of divine wrath; the other, a lithe, slender body, the body of a dancer, with an expression of joy. He's both a patron of combat, and a patron of the arts; his symbol is a golden fist clenching a silver flute. He's invoked to express righteous wrath and the joy of self-expression and beauty. In this context, I find it fascinating that Lamed, Adjustment, is a dancing figure, linking Tiphareth with Geburah; Beauty and Strength. Also interesting are the various polar union symbols; his dual physical nature, the gold/silver image (flute/fist...seems like, or could be interepreted in like fashion to, lingam/yoni). Also: Adamnan-na-Brionha => as Fool => Aleph " => as Adjustment = Lamed thus, the interplay of AL/LA.... Not really sure what to make of all this, and am attempting to resist the urge to analize it to death; but, at least to me, it's interesting, and worth further examination. ... PH> The correction of capitals in the greeting (per the Liber 31 PH> orthography we recently discussed with Dr. Aquino) is a pretty standard PH> opening in SOTO (and their related AA manifestation's) correspondence. The funny thing is, I know damn well what the TC version is -have done for years- but decided to put it all in caps as Headers and Footers. When one does that for whatever reason of emphasis or just plain personal aesthetics, the capitalization of individual words is usually ignored. But the idea of jumping on every inquirer's grammar right off the bat struck me as silly, especially since they misquoted AL in their Manifesto, speaking of the "...woman girth with sword..."! PH> As you see, they count 1904 ev as AN 1, not AN 0 (which I seem to PH> recall you prefer/preferred as well?). Well, it wasn't a question of preference so much as the fact that, not having any contact with the OTO for so many years after discovering Thelema, that was the method I derived based on common usage -- there's no year 0 C.E., after all. I do remember asking why Crowley seemed to do otherwise, and you explaining how current usage runs. PH> I look forward to seeing the latest rant from the late Fra.'. Motta's PH> successor.
