Most people read more than just one or two of them, and I can see your point very clearly, but not _everyone_ reads more than one of them, and I felt that no matter where they were in their message read/reply frenzy, they should be aware of what is being offered. TI> give you more negative attention than positive. We'll see... TI> Essentially it advertises the catalog. Fine, but not so many times. Just as I wrote earlier, covering every base is informative on ALL interest levels. Where one might have one interest, another may not. I do, however, understand your point of view, and hope you can relate to mine as well... For my own particular curiosity, I would like to see a list of where the echos of 93Net go out to. Not just for this particular idea, but for anyone who is a regular user of 93Net, this list would come in handy. Sometimes I like to know how far I can "reach out and touch someone" with a message. I have several friends in the O.T.O. and who practice Wicca overseas, and a list such as this would come in good use. You are probably the best person to ask this question to! What about it? I think it's great what SysOps like yourself are doing for the 93 current. I used to run a BBS out of Southern New Jersey when I was 14, and I had a lot of fun with it. I always was up-to-date on all the new info, etc.., but I think my greatest enjoyment came from tailoring my BBS into something that was all my own.. The utility and re-programming work was the best! How about yourself? Lemme know... Love is the law, love under will. Thelema is a set of tools, and the tools work. Anything that can't be verified by personal experiment, such as nonsensical claims about new aeons and revelations from higher intelligence, is chaff and should be culled. As for the friend who decided that the O.T.O. were "ridiculous assholes", that's the dominant view in the pagan community, at least in the Bay Area. But one can be a Thelemite without the O.T.O. In fact, the O.T.O. is so authoritarian that it's easier to be a Thelemite without it! There's not a single member who is not morally compromised by association with such a corrupt and anti-Thelemic establishment. 718499927771849992777184999277718499927771849992777184999277718 From: Max Delysid Area: Thelema To: Tim Maroney 23 Apr 92 11:23:54 Subject: RE: Re: RE: Neophite me UpdReq In a message to Ann Etheridge written on Thursday, April 23, 1992 at 10:30:31, Tim Maroney writes: TM> authoritarian that it's easier to be a Thelemite without it! Even if your personal beliefs are anti-authoritarian, you are sending money to an authoritarian organization, and so concretely supporting authoritarian policies. Therefore, you are morally compromised. 718499927771849992777184999277718499927771849992777184999277718 From: Edward Wolfe Area: Thelema To: Tim Maroney 24 Apr 92 10:50:38 Subject: RE: Re: RE: Neophite me Sent UpdReq 93, Tim! "But one can be a Thelemite without the O.T.O." (big smile) [Assimilation = Assimilation + 9.3] ;-) But I can't agree that it would be 'easier' to be a Thelemite without the Order. In my Universe, the O.T.O. is a 'safe haven' or 'repose' where one's truest nature can be expressed without the horrid fears society has bred in us for 'being ourselves'... This might not hold true for all _members_ of the O.T.O., but certainly holds true for the Order as a whole [the sum of it's parts].
