CN| Just finished "Dark Gods" and "The Ceremonies". Both CN| excellent! Thanks for the recommendations! Hey, cool; glad you enjoyed! Have you ever read Rohmer's _Brood_of_the _Witch_Queen_ (c1918ev, English Sphere reprint c1976...)? There, most probably, is the prototype for Lovecraft's & Lumley's Nitocris. Great, old-style occult adventure. Then there's _The_Nine_Unknown_Men... If you ever get a crack at it, there's one dark little piece of exotica you might enjoy: _Alraune_, translated from the German of Hans Ewers by Guy Endore, and published in 1929 in an edition of 3000 by the John Day Company. Deals with the creation of a woman by sorcery, and a variety of erotic (mis)adventures and suchlike. Vaguely Moonchildish, but with heavily Germanic dark and erotic overtones mostly lacking in Crowley's work. Ewers also did a _Sorcerer's_Apprentice_ and _Vampyr_, the first having also been translated by Endore. _Alraune_ is mentioned in Lovecraft's essay, is how I found out about it, then I happened on a copy in an old bookshop... 93 93/93 ___ X JABBER v1.2 X Where hae a|| The f|owers weUT? 718499927771849992777184999277718499927771849992777184999277718 From: Azoth Area: Night Side To: Josh Norton 25 Aug 92 08:25:12 Subject: Achadian Gnosis UpdReq 93, Josh! JN| I personally don't feel comfortable with Maatian stuff, but that's more Does that include Achad's Maatian schema? I found, with suprisingly little effort, a nearly mint copy of the Weiser '69ev edition (they seem overly fond of small editions of 750 for some reason) of the _Egyptian _Revival, and am greatly enjoying same. I'll keep you posted, of course, but I'll say right now that, if I'm following his exposition exactly, I find his thesis extremely convincing, if not as a wholesale replacement of the more traditional Tree, then certainly as a valuable interpretation of the phenomenology of the Paths. I'm still awaiting those reprints of QBL and Anatomy&c, but I can already see that I've wrongly overlooked Achad's work, largely, I think, due to the bad press by 666. I'm still trying to grok the major paradigm shift in AC's Commentaries pre- and post-Achad.... 93 93/93 ___ X JABBER v1.2 X My God.....It's full of Stars..... 718499927771849992777184999277718499927771849992777184999277718 From: Charles Nemo Area: Night Side To: Azoth 26 Aug 92 09:03:50 Subject: Klein Sent UpdReq Thanks for the further recommendations, and I'll look for them.
