The skills I have are these: Life long book hound, and the creativity to set up a quality shop. Natural business sense. An eye for art/craft/music. Contacts in the local pagan community. Desire to get out of the 8-5 world and live as I love! Currently, I work full time and attend night school. I'm working toward a Biology degree. I can stick in some business courses, but I really need is advice on how you go about buying the books... isn't there a degree associated with that, more for rare books, but it would apply... hmmm... can't think of it. As far as the number crunching and the legal aspects, that's what they make libraries for. I've heard of redevelopment small business loans... Do you incorporate living expenses and such into your business loan, by projecting how long it will take to make a usable profit? Do you make payments at it's inception or is there a delay, again, based upon projected time until you earn profits? How does it work in different parts of the country and beyond the States? How did you get started and what tips are you willing to pass along?
