Then your statement would carry a great deal of validity. Again, I agree completely. Part of the problem being made by our friend is not making crucial distinctions. As you are well aware, most all of society has this backwards to some extent. Alcohol is viewed as rather benign and the heathen devil weed will INDEED rot your brain! It is very refreshing to chance across lucidity. Well done! 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Deep Black Area: Magical Plants To: Cary Robyn 20 Jul 94 18:51:00 Subject: Re: Captain Rom UpdReq CR> going to grow into the main stream leading up into the Transcendental CR> Object at the end of history. I appreciate these ocasional warnings re; MAOIs. It is always good to reiterate these dangers and I also wish to stress that serious work in these areas requires a VERY solid grounding on the pharmacological actions of the plants and chemicals used. This is one of the fields of practice where a little knowledge can kill. I think that yage analogs are worthy of study, but DMT is of a totally different character when ingested po. My feeling are that with so many other completely safe entheogens (i.e psilocybin), the MAOI/DMT research should be left to those who are experts in the use of the agents. DMT ingested by inhaling the vapor is VERY dramatic (I've heard the image of doing zazen at ground zero of a thermonuke to be a very apt analogy) and safe. It eclipses both psilocybin and orally activated DMT. This is not a value judgement about any of them over the other, but an observation of the extreme differences between psilocybin/yage analogs and inhaled DMT. 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Deep Black Area: Magical Plants To: Phanerothyme 20 Jul 94 19:19:00 Subject: Re: Pharmacotheon UpdReq Ph> Can anyone look up a couple of plant items for me in Ott's new book, Ph> Arundo Donax (Giant Reed) I have know of HUGE patches of A. donax for years. There is a 20+ year old stand in my mothers yard. The roots are extremely hard to chip even when just harvested. _Integration_'s TLC analysis of A. donax didn't show a very high alkaloid content and my experiences with several extraction techniques in conjunction with harmine (I used the pure alkaloid) were a complete disapointment. Not even a +1. _Integration_ did show a relatively dark band for Desmanthus, but for some reason this particular rhizome does not yield up but a small percentage of its alkaloid load using the standard extraction techniques which work well for others (such as some of the more potent Philaris strains like the most recent discovery of the "Turkey Red" strain). Further work needs to be done in this area. 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Deep Black Area: Magical Plants To: Julia Phillips 20 Jul 94 19:41:00 Subject: Assistance? UpdReq In one of the information files that are traded among the shamanic adepts internationally, there is reference made to the bark of a tree known in binominal nomenclature as Acacia maidenii. This individual found hundreds of these trees growing along creek gullys in a national park in Australia (the tree is indigenous to the continent). The park was not named but the tree is not limited to any one portion of the continent. The bark is thick, red, fibrous and resinous. A half kilo of bark was removed in strips causing little temporary damage and no permanent damage. This was sufficient for initial bioassay and then some. The gist of this message is that I would appreciate it if you could perhaps ask around and see if anyone knows how to identify this tree or is aware of the location of a stand. Failing this, I'm certain that the agricultural department of a nearby university could provide this information. I would like to acquire a kilo or so of this material. I will, of course, post the technical information for extraction and use. The alkaloid is the same as is used in the admixtures to B. caapi which produce the visions (specifically P. viridis). Hope all is well with you and yours! I look forward to hearing from you. 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718
