The Red Gum makes an excellent incense ingredient: it's an amazing colour (really deep rich red, glows like amber), and a very "upper register" aroma, though definitely a bit fire-like. Most of the gums produce good resin. We live a short distance from the Blue Mountains, and the reason they are "blue" is that as the sun shines, the oil evaporates from the gum leaves, and causes a blue haze. Eucalypts really are packed with oil and resin, and the Blue Mountains has hundreds of thousands of Eucalypt trees. If you saw the film "Sirens", that was set in the Blue Mountains, about 30 minutes away from where we live. B*B Julia 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718
