I probably wouldn't do much more than rant at this point anyway! Still waiting to see if insurance will cover 75% of the Interferon... > This is way worse than the $4000/year I read in one article!!! > Let's hope it's easy to make and that Mexican generic will be dirt > cheap. Berlex knows it's got people by the myelin and can command > this price, probably makes the stuff for 1% of the sell price. Yeah, the price is higher than all the estimates I've read. Berlex sends "credit cards" to everyone registered, and the reps act like they're doing everyone a big favor--you can pick up your months' supply of scrip, and have a "generous" 55 days to come up with payment in full. The process is kinda complicated too, it's been interesting learning to prepare it, store it, & inject it. ;> > In your case it seems like you have no choice but to pay up and hope > you get your money's worth. It'd be nice of Berlex to settle for > the insurance portion of the cost, but I doubt if their stockholders > will want to give up fat dividends in the name of philantropy. Hard to say if I'll end up staying on "the program" long enough to really evaluate any results. At this point, all I know is, it's making me feel generally gross! I'd hope that if insurance decides to cover, they *will* settle. If they don't, I'll just jump up and down and scream and get as much publicity as possible for the situation. > Did you have any side effects? Nope. I'm still taking the Symmetrel on alternate days (the days I don't slam BetaSeron)...and just coming off another steroid course. When I pull outa this one, I'll be in for some heavy detox, I'm a walking pharmacy and none of it's even any fun, much less enlightening! > I'm shooting from the hip here, but I think IF is what keeps you > from gettinga second virus when you already have one, being produced > as a defense mechanism. Wasn't Interferon Alpha the stuff they were experimenting with for cancer treatment at one point? Hmmm...can't think of any workable way to try to up the production in one's own body on the natch. > never had pain as part of the disease. This probably will sounds sort of trite, but I had a list of "possible symptoms" from the neuro, and when I looked thru it, I was picking & choosing--oh, I could handle this one, but NOT that one--and seemed like every I'll-kill-myself-if-I-have-to-live-with-that-one thang on the list ended up being what I got in various periods of relapse. So far I'm *extremely* healthy when I'm in remission, but it's a flat bitch staying that way. Getting well again becomes almost a full-time job. Maybe I'm just naturally onery & do better when I have something to bitch and fight and struggle against, I dunno! > Good for you! I have adopted a Zen attitude of acceptance > concerning my condition, though being blind will be hard to accept. > I'll just have to make good use of my good years. It might not be as bad as it seems it would be; blindness is one of the symptoms with lots of assistance available (convoluted sentence, hope it makes sense!)--including computer stuff to keep your online contact. My attorney is blind, and he has a bitchin computer setup. I think you'd be automatically eligible for SSI too; don't know if finances are a problem for you (they always are for me!)...I finally decided that instead of "resting up" in remissive periods and having a longer half-life, I'd kick ass and take names when I felt good and collapse when I don't. I'd REALLY like to live long enough to see my daughter out of school and settled, or at least out of dreaded adolescence, but other than that I'm pretty sure I can deal. 93! 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Genghis Khan Area: Magical Plants To: Kayla Block 9 Apr 94 02:56:08 Subject: Re: Amanita Muscaria UpdReq KB> has anyone out there ever tried amanita muscaria? i'm curious about what i KB> like, dosage, toxicity data, etc. any info. would be greatly appreciated!
