I've heard that, and indeed that could have been the case. All I know is that the effects weren't worth the hassle. At best I'd call woodrose seeds mildly psychedelic; for my money I'd rather do Kava Kava, which is more sedating but more pleasant and doesn't give me any bad side effects (although I've heard constant use of it can be hard on the liver). 718499927771849992777184999277718499927771849992777184999277718 From: Wesley Arnold Area: Magical Plants To: Gandalf 15 Aug 93 15:56:56 Subject: Re: CACTUS PLANT USED IN RITUALS UpdReq G> G> Thanks for the info....How "exactly do you prepare them for the G> "experience". I understand their are a few different ways... As you said, there are a few different ways.... You can peel it, excising all the spines, and eat like a cob of corn. You would generally need to eat a piece about 6" to 8" long and 3" thick to achieve the desired effect. However, if you can avoid this way, do so. While not as bitter and, frankly, nauseating as peyote, it is still VERY bitter and rather hard to stomach. You can just excise the spine groups, leaving the skin more or less intact, cut it into sections around 3/4" thick, and boil the whole thing in about 3-4 quarts of water for several hours, reducing it to a rather thick, syrupy tea, which you can then consume, cutting the taste with honey. You can do the same as above, but not reducing it as far, add a little salt (to make the solution isotonic) and use it as an enema. You can do the same as above, but through repeated boilings and then evaporations, create a dark tar-like substance, which you can then put into capsules and use that way (not a bad method, unless, like myself, you are not pill-tolerant).... Make sure, though, that you get the proper species of Trichocereus...there are several (over ten, I believe), but only three have the mescaline and related alkaloid content.... 718499927771849992777184999277718499927771849992777184999277718
