From: Delia The Crone Area: MagickNet To: Doug Nelson 7 May 95 11:14:00 Subject: Wu Magic UpdReq >DN> Does anyone have any info or references on the Chinese magical >DN>tradition known as Wu magic. (Thats all I know, research for a friend :) Well.... sometime during the 6th century in China, the devout Buddhist Emperor Wu Ti received Bodhidharma (a semi-legendary missionary monk from India, known as Daruma in Japan) in private audience. This dialogue seems to have set the tone for many hundreds of Zen dialogues, commentaries, mondo and koans. I'm afraid that's all the reference I have here at home, and that's an old memory from my Zen years. I realize it has nothing to do with magic, but then, MY magic has Zen at its base. With my studying of Wicca I have seen the subject of reincarnation and that people leave this incantation when their time has come. Still..I have to ponder how it could have been so many infants' time to die. That is a large number....if there is a bigger picture than what we are able to handle...I wonder what big picture contains that much devestation. BTW, an entire mountain has just recently disappeared in Brazil-gold mining companies, having faith, drive, investment capitol, and political power in a forign government, hired an army of starving people at starvation wages to move the mountain shovel by shovelfull. Its gone now, and Brazil is just as in debt to the IMF as before. What's the point!? LC> Here's the point: Whats the point? LC> Everything causes everything else. In fact, it's sometimes worse in groups, since folks with similar magickal experiences tend to reinforce each others' weirdnesses. LC> I've been there, done that. Some of my adventures in that time of being part of such a group were wonderful for fanning the flames of late blooming youth. The passion! The sex! LC> I can't stand groups any more. Besides being nasty with bullshit and intrigue, they tend to emphasise the loyalty of the group over teaching nd even spiritual advancement. On the other hand, being part of a magic group of friends who share danger, food, and essence was a great 'pulling together' of this lonly magician. After the group disintegrated, as such groups inevitably do, it was the strong desire to reexperience that feeling of closeness that motivated me to practice the magic and the spirituality. The magic and spirit were all that was left of a glorious memory. I am grateful, but solitary now. How about you? Have you ever experienced a group ritual to be more powerful, as far as manifesting the intent of the work, than your own solitary practice? 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718
