UpdReq I haven't been able to figure this out from the sources available to me up here and I'm not about to rush out and spend money on a book I don't need, so could someone tell me just what enochian magick is or what the term "enochian" means to begin with? I have seen it associated with satanism, so I'm really confused. I see this term in a lot of places and a lot of contexts and I'm just not getting any clear ideas from what I've run across. I read the varieties (from Simon to that `Maatian Womans' versions and I have yet to go insane. If you're looking for `insanity' try some of the translations of Sumerian texts. Those will at least give you some pretty weird dreams. I doubt that reading a grimoire would cause mental instability unless you were that way to begin with. The problem is usually in getting a given grimoire to function. Which version was your friend referring to ? I've seen at least three versions of the Necronomicon, and the magic in all three of them are supposed to work. Personally, I experimented with the "Simon" version in mid '92 and successfully created two talismans using spirits from The Book of Fifty Names; ZULUMMAR (to improve physical health) and SUHGURIM (to pay back an old "friend" who betrayed my trust). The book worked admirably. I'm not saying the version I used was the real Necronomicon. Merely, that the symbols and words were effective in stimulating the psyche to accomplish the desired ends. We also offer Solomonic Tools, magickal Patens, a variety of Pantacles, Oils and Incenses for practical magickal work and a large assortment of magickal jewelry and other items of general magickal interest. There are many Magicians who have neither the time nor the talent to make actual Golden Dawn implements or tools. It is to these individuals that we are especially dedicated, that they may also have Golden Dawn implements to use in their personal as well as in their group rituals. The Magician is informed by tradition to make his/her own implements or tools, and this may in fact be a very sound principle for certain Magicians who have the time, the interest, and the creative ability to make them. But there are others who would much more prefer to have first-rate implements crafted by those with a thorough knowledge, talent, and experience in such matters. The Golden Dawn implements that we now offer are first-rate hand-crafted works of exquisite art, produced through great skill and many hours of intense labor by those dedicated to their magickal perfection. The Talismans from the Greater Key of Solomon that we now offer are especially of great value in personal magickal workings. These Talismans are hand-engraved works of magickal art constructed on the proper planetary metals, and on the correct planetary days during the correct planetary hours. Based on my resignation, there are now a number of significant changes with regard to the Thelemic Golden Dawn. The Thelemic Golden Dawn no longer operates in association with the Hermetic Temple and Order of the Golden Dawn, the Israel Regardie Foundation, or New Falcon Publications. The Thelemic Golden Dawn no longer incorporates the works of either Israel Regardie or Christopher Hyatt. All works are now the result of my own efforts and those of my associates. The titles "The Thelemic Temple of the Golden Dawn" and "Novus Ordo Aureae Aurora" are no longer applicable to our Order. The following titles currently apply to our Order: "The Thelemic Golden Dawn", "TGD", "Novus Ordo Aurora Aureae", and "The Golden Dawn of Thelema". The Thelemic Golden Dawn no longer certifies an initiate of any grade until he/she has successfully completed the work of that grade and is ceremonially initiated into the succeeding grade. UpdReq Greetings Amethyst, Enoachian magick came out of the workings of Dr. John Dee (and his `scryer', Edward Kelly). Dee as the court astrologer for Queen Elizabeth the 1st (to give you an approx. for the time period). Dee and Kelly (according to Dee's journal and manuscripts) contacted a variety of `entities', Dee generally called `angelic beings', during years of ongoing work involving scrying, channeling, and from what I read of Dee's work, some ceremonies. These beings' gave them an entirely new way of working. (This included inscibed tablets with completely different alphabet. Instructions for `ascending' the Aethers (30 `spiritual' planes). And alot more. Crowley decribes his `Enochian' work in the Vision and the Voice. The Golden Dawn (both past and present) have numerous `teachings' on Enochian Magick. A few years ago there was even an `Enochian Workbook' on the market. There is are books in print of John Dee's original manuscripts. I had to have mine ordered from England, but it can be done (and it may have been re-relesed by Weiser, U.S., again. I got my copy 5-6 years ago) Info. on `The Book of Enoch' itself. The Book of Enoch was supposed to have been the Jewish book on the `Apocalypse'. The book was lost (according to most scholars) in the 8th century. In the 19th century there was found an (If my memory is correct) Ethiopian translation of the `lost book' and later 2 more were found, one was in ancient Greek and the other was in some other ancient language that I don't remamber of hand. The name `Enoch' in Heberw means, `he who walks with god'. The translations I've seen are pretty much the (expected) doomsday and end of the world sort of stuff. The angels Enoch speaks of are not the `nicest' angels. I believe most Christians would call them fallen angels. The Judaic scholars have said the books are of no real interest because none of the `discovered' lost books were in Ancient Hebrew or Aramaic, thus the books cannot be from the original writer (i.e. Enoch) and are (in their opinion) most probably fraudulent and irrelevant to research on Judaic history or theology. Enochian Magick is a Magick into and of itself. Most the folks I know who study it spend literally, years of work learning the system and even more in serious pursuit. Most occult scholars agree that unless one is going to take up Enochian work with seriousness and (better yet) a well versed teacher, that Enochian magick can be very dangerous. As, I have only touched upon Enochian Magick in my Magickal journey, that is really all the info. (without looking into my library- then it would just be quotes from the sources I named already) I have. I do know, no one just `plays' around with Enochian Magick. By that I mean...serious shit can happen to the people who don't commit themselves to the work. I'm sure you'll get some better replys than this but for the moment I hope it is helpful. (Try looking at some of the `newer' (this last decade) Golden Dawn material.) Also, there are some BBS' that carry a sub. devoted just to that subject. Hope your friend is doing well. /ESP 201434369420143436942014343694201434369420143436942014343694718 From: Limping_Bear Area: MagickNet To: Andy Bender 1 Jan 95 07:36:16 Subject: Re: Another Question UpdReq Andy, You say your quite familiar with the "Builders," may I ask if you're affiliated?
