IMHO, any system can be reduced to a very minimalistic state, and work
quite well, for some, that reduction makes it all the more effective. To
me, full understanding of all ramifications, influences, escences,
natures, etc.. is important. However, my rituals themselves are very
minimalist, I often work with no tools in an open field. So long as I
know what is going on, I feel no need for the rest.
I do feel that banishings are sometimes important, well done magick will
continue indefinatly, and the evocations/invocations will remain.
Sometimes, that is a desirable state of affairs, and of course, no
banishing should be done in that case. In other cases, the continuation
of those influences will at best muddy further work, and at worst become
a terrible problem. Mundane life, boreing as it sometimes is, must be
maintained!
