3 A Brief Description of Between The Worlds Network Between The Worlds Network is an international, multi-lingual network of Pagans, focusing on topics relevent throughout the world. We are a network of individual Pagans rather than a network of covens. We recognize our members on an equal footing regardless of degrees of initiation or other forms of rank within a coven or tradition. Everyone is an authority. For this reason we are known to each other simply by either our "real" names, or the names by which we were first recognized (initiated) as Pagans (i.e. First Degree names, for those traditions which use more than one degree). After all, no one is really impressed by "Lord Elrond, Incredibly High Priest and Arch Mage of the Mid-West Affiliated Covens (all 237 of them) of the One Tried-and-True Pan-Galactic Pagan Convention, 33rd Deg.." (The Erisians are all Popes, so big deal!) The network belongs to, and is governed by, its members. Aside from those persons responsible for publishing the newsletter, there are no "officers" or leaders. Between The Worlds Network and its members are nature oriented. By this we mean that we are concerned with the welfare of our planet as a living being and all its inhabitants. While we recognize that this concern often involves political issues, we are not affiliated or identified with any political parties. Objectives and Goals of the Network Our primary purpose is to pass information and promote communication among Pagans worldwide. Through our newsletter, "The Bridge", we seek to provide an open forum to discuss problems and advise newcomers to the Old Ways. Issues such as human rights and our responsibility to the rights of our environment are of worldwide importance. Problems such as establishing a new coven and finding its inherent focus and direction are common to all, regardless of location. The rich variety of traditions and approaches to the Old Ways are of common interest. By sharing these we enhance our understanding and unity. We seek to advance international correspondance by providing points of contact throughout the world. One of our goals is to publish a Pagan Traveler's Guide Book of ritual sites and network contacts around the world. This would consist of descriptions of sites and information regarding when Pagans can and cannot safely meet there, along with directions to the locations (ideally these would be accurate enough for a stranger to follow on the night of the new moon). It would also provide Pagans who are traveling or moving with people and places where they can meet and find somewhere to stay. We attempt to provide information regarding new publications as they come out along with accurate and inexpensive translations of multi-media material between languages. Finally, we wish to research and publish ancient ritual forms and music, as well as providing a format for the discussion and presentaion of new ritual material.
