TOPICAL STUDY HYPOCRISY JOB 8:13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish: JOB 8:14 Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web. JOB 8:15 He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure. JOB 13:16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. JOB 15:22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword. JOB 15:23 He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand. JOB 15:24 Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle. JOB 15:25 For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty. JOB 15:26 He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers: JOB 15:27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks. JOB 15:28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps. JOB 15:29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth. JOB 15:30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away. JOB 15:31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence. JOB 15:32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green. JOB 15:33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive. JOB 15:34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery. JOB 17:8 Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite. JOB 20:4 Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, JOB 27:8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? JOB 27:9 Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him? JOB 27:10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God? JOB 31:33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom: JOB 31:34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door? JOB 34:30 That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared. JOB 36:13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them. JOB 36:14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean. PSA 5:9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. PSA 50:16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? PSA 52:4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. PSA 55:12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: PSA 55:13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. PSA 55:14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. PSA 55:20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. PSA 55:21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. PSA 55:23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee. PSA 78:34 When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God. PSA 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. PSA 78:36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues. PSA 78:37 For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant. PSA 101:7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. PRO 7:10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. PRO 7:11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: PRO 7:12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.) PRO 7:13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him, PRO 7:14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows. PRO 7:15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee. PRO 7:16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. PRO 7:17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. PRO 7:18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves. PRO 7:19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey: PRO 7:20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed. PRO 7:21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. PRO 11:9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered. PRO 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit. PRO 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. PRO 20:14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth. PRO 21:27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind? PRO 23:6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: PRO 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. PRO 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. PRO 26:18 As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, PRO 26:23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. PRO 26:24 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; PRO 26:25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart. PRO 26:26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation. ISA 1:13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ISA 1:15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. ISA 9:17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. ISA 10:6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. ISA 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: ISA 29:15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? ISA 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding? ISA 32:5 The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful. ISA 32:6 For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. ISA 33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? ISA 48:1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. ISA 58:2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. ISA 58:3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. ISA 58:4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. ISA 58:5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? ISA 61:8 For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. ISA 65:5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day. JER 3:10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD. JER 5:2 And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely. JER 6:20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me. JER 7:4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. JER 7:8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. JER 7:9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; JER 7:10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? JER 9:4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. JER 9:8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait. JER 12:2 Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins. JER 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? JER 42:20 For ye dissembled in your hearts, when ye sent me unto the LORD your God, saying, Pray for us unto the LORD our God; and according unto all that the LORD our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it. LAM 1:2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies. EZE 14:7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself: EZE 14:8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. EZE 20:39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols. EZE 33:30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD. EZE 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. EZE 33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. HOS 6:4 O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away. HOS 7:14 And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me. HOS 8:2 Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee. HOS 10:1 Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images. HOS 11:12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints. AMO 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. AMO 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. AMO 5:24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. OBA 1:7 All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him. MIC 3:11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. MIC 7:5 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. ZEC 7:5 Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me? ZEC 7:6 And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? ZEC 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. MAL 1:6 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? MAL 1:7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. MAL 1:8 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts. MAL 1:13 Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD. MAL 1:14 But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen. MAL 2:13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand. MAL 3:14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? MAT 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? MAT 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. MAT 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. MAT 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. MAT 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. MAT 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. MAT 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. MAT 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. MAT 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. MAT 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? MAT 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. MAT 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. MAT 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, MAT 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. MAT 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. MAT 16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? MAT 21:28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. MAT 21:29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. MAT 21:30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. MAT 21:31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. MAT 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. MAT 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. MAT 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. MAT 22:18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? MAT 23:2 Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: MAT 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. MAT 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. MAT 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, MAT 23:6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, MAT 23:7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. MAT 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. MAT 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. MAT 23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. MAT 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. MAT 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. MAT 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. MAT 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. MAT 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. MAT 23:16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! MAT 23:17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? MAT 23:18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. MAT 23:19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? MAT 23:20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. MAT 23:21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. MAT 23:22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. MAT 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. MAT 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. MAT 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. MAT 23:26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. MAT 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. MAT 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. MAT 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, MAT 23:30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. MAT 23:31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. MAT 23:32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. MAT 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? MAT 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, MAT 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. MAT 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: MAT 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: MAT 25:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: MAT 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. MAT 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? MAT 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. MAR 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. MAR 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. MAR 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. MAR 9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. MAR 12:38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, MAR 12:39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: MAR 12:40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation. LUK 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? LUK 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. LUK 11:39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. LUK 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. LUK 11:44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. LUK 11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. LUK 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. LUK 12:2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. LUK 12:54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. LUK 12:55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. LUK 12:56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time? LUK 13:13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. LUK 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. LUK 13:15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? LUK 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? LUK 13:17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. LUK 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. LUK 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. LUK 14:34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? LUK 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. LUK 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. LUK 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. LUK 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. LUK 20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; LUK 20:47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation. LUK 21:16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. JOH 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. JOH 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? JOH 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? JOH 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. JOH 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. ROM 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; ROM 2:1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. ROM 2:3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? ROM 2:17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, ROM 2:18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; ROM 2:19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, ROM 2:20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. ROM 2:21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? ROM 2:22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? ROM 2:23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? ROM 2:24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. ROM 2:25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. ROM 2:26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? ROM 2:27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? ROM 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: ROM 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. ROM 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: ROM 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. 1CO 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2CO 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 2CO 5:12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart. GAL 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. PHI 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. 1TI 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 2TI 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. TIT 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. JAM 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. JAM 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. JAM 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: JAM 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. JAM 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. JAM 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? JAM 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, JAM 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? JAM 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. JAM 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. JAM 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. JAM 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? JAM 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? JAM 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? JAM 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. JAM 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. JAM 2:25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? JAM 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. JAM 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 1PE 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speakings, 1PE 2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 2PE 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2PE 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 2PE 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 2PE 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. 2PE 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 1JO 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 1JO 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1JO 2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 1JO 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 1JO 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? JUD 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; REV 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. REV 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. REV 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. ============================== THE LECTRONIC IBRARY ECHANGE P.O.
